Description

Introducing the Japanese version of our popular Whale Tales book. Join Lehua and Kai as they voyage on a research ship following the annual migration of humpback whales. These young scientific helpers document the adventure of the humpbacks as they begin their trek from the feeding grounds of Alaska and cruise to the warm waters of Hawai`i to give birth to their calves. The story is told as Lehua and Kai write letters to their whale-loving friends of all they have learned about the great sea mammals. Packed with educational facts, children will love learning all about whales and other sea creatures as they make their southern journey across the Pacific Ocean.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ron Hirschi has more than 30 years experience as a fisheries biologist and teaches many workshops on ocean ecology. He has led thousands of young people into rivers and streams, ponds and the ocean to study and protect the water world. Recently, he was invited to participate in an environmental leadership project at Midway Atoll in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands. This experience strengthened his belief that the future of the ocean rests in the hands of kids - kids who might learn to love whales so much, they will want to help them.
